Improve Your Aim: How To Get More And Faster Kills On Shooting Games
By Joe Jun Wang
Everybody who enjoys shooting games will drool at the skills witnessed on sites like YouTube. There are people who quickscope and kills a target before we even see the target. There are those who have super quick reaction and guns down their opponent before taking a single bullet. I'm sure you crave their abilities and reflexes.
I know every shooting game is different, every shooting game has its own style, its own guns etc. What I am attempting to do is give you advice that will carry over all shooting games.
Reflexes:
Many of you will have played the reaction game where you try to hit 5 sheep with tranquilizer darts (if you haven't type reaction game into Google). If I am honest, that game is complete *****. I have killed many opponents who score much lower on that game then I have. The reason is that there is a difference between reaction and reflex.
The reaction measured by the reaction game is the amount of time for your brain to see an object, analyze it then return with a motor response. The reflex you will be using within shooting games is your danger reflex. Where you 'bypass' the analyses part of the reaction process. This creates the phenomenon known as 'trigger happy', where you accidentally shoot a friendly that suddenly appears in front of you.
Head Shots:
This is what gets me most of my kills. As you run around the map on your shooting game, keep your aim at roughly the same level as your would-be opponent's head. This way, when you see an opponent, you are almost guaranteed a headshot. Now this method requires some thinking on your part due to the fact that the distance and stance of your opponent will chance the height of their heads. I will try to show you some examples to give you an idea.
In these conditions you should keep your aim parallel to your head: small maps, rushing, tight spaces, turning corners.
In these conditions you should look up with your aim: crouching, med maps.
There is only one place where you should look down with your aim and that is turning into an obvious camping spot. When people camp, they crouch so if you are walking into a camping spot keep your aim down to kill them before they kill you.
There are a lot of factors that contribute to your success as a gamer. These tips should help you win a firefight in a one on one battle. Remember to play smart, no amount of shooting skill will help you if you get killed from behind.
